Titans CAN NOT overlook the Colts

After another HUGE victory for the Tennessee Titans they have another immediate test heading into week 11. They will travel to Indianapolis to take on an Andrew Luck led Colts team. A player that has never lost to the Titans at home or on the road. Although those were completely different Titans teams there is such thing as having a teams number and that is what the Titans will try to avoid coming up in week 11.

In week 10 the Titans won another game that national media would say they were not supposed to win over the New England Patriots. The defense coming up huge again only allowing 10 points in the 34-10 rout over the number 5 ranked offense in the NFL. Even though this defense did not force any fumbles or get any interceptions or anything that jumps out at you on a stat sheet, they did enough to win. The pressure on the quarterback play after play, racking up 3 sacks as a team, 7 tackles for loss, and hit the quarterback 6 times. You can’t talk about this Titans team without talking about the Titans franchise QB. Mariota had another outstanding game going 16/24 through the air for 228 yards and 2 TD. We also saw Mariota use his athleticism once again rushing for 21 yards and even caught a pass for 21 more yards!

A year ago we saw the Titans beat the Colts for the first time since 2011. This however was not a team being led by Andrew Luck. It was also not a Colts team that had anything to play for. This game however could be season defining for both teams. The Texans are red hot as they have won 6 straight ,but the Titans sit just one game behind the AFC South leaders heading into week 11. The Colts on the other hand are 2 games back at (4-5) so a win over the Titans would put them right back into the thick of things after the 1-5 start to their season. Even though the Colts 3 straight wins have not come by the toughest opponents (Bills 3-7, Raiders 1-8, and the Jags 3-6) they like the Titans come into this game with a lot of confidence. This Colts offense has played at a playoff level all season and now the defense has come around to help them pull out a few wins in a row, so this will be another good test for this Titans #1 ranked defense in the NFL.

In case you forgot what happened last time the Titans had this big of a win (Week 4 Overtime victory vs Eagles) they went on to lose 3 straight games. For the Titans to avoid letting a hangover like this happen again they must stay focused remember that the big win over the Patriots isn’t what this season is being played for, and keep their eye on the prize to be able to jump back on top of the AFC South. The Titans have to avoid letting this being one of those games after the season they look back on and say “if only” or “we should’ve had that one”. This is not the Titans of old, this is not any Titans team like Andrew Luck has seen in the past, and I think in the end the Titans keep this thing moving and get the win over the Colts 31-21.
